How to celebrate St. Patrick's Day the Irish Way

In the urban landscape, there is little space for us to escape the constant hustle and bustle. There may be some local disruption to traffic due to St Patrick's Day parades. This is particularly true in cities with a large population, such as New York, New Orleans and Seattle. So instead of following the masses and doing as everyone else does, why not celebrate it at home with more authentic Irish traditions?

Creating our own little piece of tranquility is often an exercise relegated to the bedroom alone. It is a haven where we feel completely at ease. But you can create an equally private and far more elegant personal space on the sofa. At times it can be turned into a delightful reading, lounging and relaxing nook.

Here are some Irish ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in your living room.

Drink Irish Beers

The least you can do is crack open a bottle of Irish beer. Irish whiskey is always popular. Try Jameson, Bushmills and Tullamore D.E.W. For those early starters, Bailey's Irish Creme goes well in coffee.

Watch a Classic Irish Movie

Maybe drinking and revelry are not your thing? Try a few other Irish things like Irish movies. Pay homage by watching a movie rooted or set in the Emerald Isle, such as The Quiet Man, which according to IMDB, features John Wayne as a boxer who returns home to Ireland. Meanwhile, serve corned beef and cabbage or Irish stew with colcannon.

Sink into an Irish Classic

Dig up some Irish poetry or Gothic literature. There's always James Joyce, the author of great Irish novels such as Dubliners and Finnegans Wake. There's also Bram Stoker, who brought us Dracula.

The key ingredient for celebrating St. Patrick's Day the above Irish way is a cozy sofa (where the Transformer & Cherry & Beaver come in). These are optional.

 Grow Shamrock as House Plants

We cant talk about Irish plants without mentioning shamrock, which is the most common St Patrick's Day symbol. So put some shamrock plants and other green decorations on the bookshelf, where you steep yourself in Irish tradition by opening an Irish book.

White and green flowers are gorgeous decorative accessories. Handmade home decorations made of green colored paper or craft are excellent for living room decorating or small furniture like bookshelves on St Patrick’s Day. Anything green or white and green works well for St Patricks Day decorating.

Prepare Irish Wearable Items and Ornaments

Wearable items in white and green colors are great for this holiday celebration. Green hats, shamrock necklaces or handmade felt pins are wonderful wearable favors that can be placed in the cabinets, which will add lots of fun and a splash of traditional green color to your home decor. It will keep your kids entertained and make the celebration unforgettable when your kids look for these wearable items as gifts.

Moreover, Irish ornaments, flags, green lights and a wall art Forest in a Dream help decorate your room from the floor to ceiling in white and green colors. Leprechauns, rainbows and shamrock plant leaves are traditional home decorations and you can mix and match these decorations however you want.

St. Paddy’s day is just around the corner. Whether you are getting ready to celebrate at home or have parades outdoors, I suggest you take a moment and enjoy Irish things, because everyone is Irish on St. Paddys day!
